A tiger census is set to begin at the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) on October 25, initiating a crucial two-phase investigation into the flourishing tiger population.
Manish Singh, the Deputy Director, stated that 402 cameras will be strategically placed to monitor and document these majestic creatures. Recent sightings of female tigers with cubs capture the conservation success story, where the population has surged from 24 tigers in 2014 to over 71 by 2022.
This increase exemplifies the successful conservation efforts in the reserve, located on the India-Nepal border, housing rare species like the Bengal tiger in its 730.24-square-kilometer sanctuary.
