According to Houston authorities, the R44 helicopter is believed to have taken off from Ellington Field, roughly 15 miles away from the crash site, shortly before 8 p.m. The aircraft was identified as a private touring helicopter, as confirmed by Houston City Councilmember Mario Castillo.

Emergency services have been deployed to the scene, and police and fire officials have called on local residents to report any relevant findings in the area that may assist with the ongoing investigation.
