A small tropical storm dubbed Oscar has emerged east of the Turks and Caicos islands, posing a potential threat with its significant rainfall and strong winds.

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Oscar is currently situated about 190 miles east-southeast of the southeastern Bahamas and approximately 495 miles away from Camaguey city in Cuba, bearing maximum sustained winds at 40 miles per hour.

As a precaution, tropical storm warnings have been issued for the southeast Bahamas and northeastern Cuban provinces, the forecaster announced.
