In Haryana's Yamunanagar district, a farmer named Ranveer Singh has been charged for allegedly burning paddy stubble in his field, officials confirmed on Monday. Authorities have registered the case under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, marking the first such FIR this season.
Haryana Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad has instructed all district officials to intensify measures to prevent stubble burning incidents which severely affect air quality. The directive emphasizes using satellite data to monitor activities and encourages collaboration with pollution control agencies for quick action.
The Chief Secretary also highlighted the importance of educational outreach. Farmers need to be informed about the adverse effects of stubble burning and motivated to adopt eco-friendly crop residue management practices, aided by government subsidies for tools like super seeders and happy seeders.
