A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Assam's north-central area on Sunday morning, causing alarm but no reported injuries or damage, as per official sources.
The National Center for Seismology reported the tremor at 7:47 am, with its epicenter in Udalguri district, located on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River.
The jolt was felt as far as Darrang, Tamulpur, Sonitpur, Kamrup, and Biswanath districts, extending to western Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Bhutan, highlighting the region's vulnerability due to its high seismic activity.
