Gurugram's New Material Recovery Facility Aims to Transform Plastic Waste Management

The Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) has launched a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Bhondsi, Gurugram, under the Develop Responsible Outlook for Plastic (D.R.O.P.) initiative. Dr. Kiran Bedi inaugurated the facility, which aims to manage Gurugram's mounting plastic waste crisis.

Equipped with advanced segregation and processing machinery, the facility will bolster efforts to keep the city clean. India remains the largest generator of plastic waste globally, a challenge projected to worsen by 2050. IPCA processes 50 tons per day from plants in Greater Noida and Patiala.

The Bhondsi facility is part of a broader initiative to create awareness about responsible plastic consumption. Project D.R.O.P. is a CSR effort by Kia India, executed by IPCA, focusing on sustainable waste management across key cities, aiding in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
