A Detailed Project Report for Jyotirmath, recovering from major land subsidence, is close to completion and is set to be reviewed by IIT-Roorkee before seeking central government approval this month.
Authority figures like Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey and Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman discussed the extensive plans, focusing on sewerage, drainage, and protection works intended to make Jyotirmath completely safe.
Despite large cracks rendering homes in the town uninhabitable earlier in the year, efforts are afoot to ensure safety and address relocation with a new disaster rehabilitation office and exploring land options nearby for affected residents.
