Panic has gripped the residents of a village in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district following a string of fatal wild animal attacks, leaving eight dead since July 17. A young girl was recently attacked, suffering neck injuries, and her family blames a wolf.
Forest officials, however, have countered these claims, suggesting it might have been a dog. Saliva samples from the wound are being examined in Bareilly. The girl is now in stable condition, receiving treatment at the district hospital.
The forest department reports that attacks were conducted by a pack of six wolves, with most captured. Villagers remain on edge, despite the only remaining wolf reportedly killed on October 5.
