The forest department in Rampur Bejha village, near Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, has successfully captured a male leopard, following several reports of attacks on humans. Since late September, there have been four reported cases of leopard attacks in surrounding residential areas.

In response, the department has set up cage traps and captured a total of three leopards, including a female. The latest animal was trapped in the early hours of Friday morning. Divisional Forest Officer B. Shivshankar confirmed these details, noting that the leopard appears healthy and active.

Officials, led by Chief Wildlife Warden Sanjay Srivastava, are considering options for the animal's future, including release into a dense forest or relocation to a zoo. Residents have been warned to remain vigilant, avoid sleeping outdoors, and travel in groups due to the leopards' tendency to wander in search of food.
