The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has embarked on an ambitious initiative to rid the capital of dust and pollution, launching the 'Dust-Free Delhi' drive. Over 6,156 metric tons of silt, construction, and demolition waste have been removed in the past week alone.

The drive has seen the most significant waste removal from Shahdara South Zone, totaling 1,230.76 metric tons, with the Keshapuram Zone following closely at 1,019.67 metric tons. This massive clean-up effort involves transferring the waste to designated dumping sites for safe disposal and bio-remediation.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to address air pollution, exacerbated by road dust, which is a major pollutant in the city. Authorities have been prompted by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor to transition this successful short-term operation into a sustained year-long endeavor.
