In a decisive move, the Moroccan government has unveiled a substantial flood relief plan, allocating 2.5 billion dirhams to tackle the extensive damage caused by recent disasters. This initiative includes essential support for reconstruction, infrastructure enhancement, and agricultural aid.
The government's strategy offers financial assistance of up to 140,000 dirhams for totally collapsed homes and 80,000 dirhams for partially demolished ones, emphasizing a commitment to rebuilding affected regions. Additionally, infrastructure recovery projects are set to commence alongside aid for struggling farmers.
Furthermore, continued earthquake assistance aims to stabilize lives in the High Atlas mountains, where cash handouts to 60,000 households will persist for five more months. This calculated approach addresses the country's pressing needs while working towards long-term recovery.
