In a shocking turn of events, a man attacked and injured three young children in Zurich while they were en route to a day-care centre on Tuesday afternoon, according to Swiss police. The suspect, who has been apprehended, struck suddenly in the Oerlikon district of Switzerland's largest city.
Police reports indicate that the children were accompanied by a woman working for the day-care when the man began stabbing them. The day-care employee, with assistance from another man, quickly subdued the attacker and restrained him until law enforcement arrived.
The suspect, identified as a 23-year-old Chinese national, was detained at the scene. Three 5-year-old boys were rushed to nearby hospitals, one with serious injuries and two with moderate wounds. Authorities have not disclosed any potential motives behind the assault.
