Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday mandated state's contributions under the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U 2.0) for effective implementation of the ambitious housing scheme.
Addressing a press conference on the government's 100 days in office, Khattar noted that while PMAY-U 1.0 saw challenges, new parameters have been introduced in the updated scheme. He highlighted that the first Cabinet meeting following the Lok Sabha elections approved PMAY-U 2.0 to build one crore houses for urban poor and middle-class families in the next five years.
Khattar also emphasized the expansion of urban transport, noting significant growth in the metro network, and introduced the 'Jal hi Amrit' water initiative under AMRUT 2.0.
