Bihar is grappling with severe floods affecting multiple districts, as breaches in embankments have been reported from seven different locations. State officials, including Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, reported no fatalities but acknowledged the significant challenges posed by the torrential rains in neighboring Nepal.
The districts impacted include West and East Champaran, Araria, Kishanganj, and others, with several rivers flowing above the danger level. An aerial survey has been conducted by state officials to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts. The Water Resources Department is working around the clock to manage the embankment breaches and prevent further inundation.
Adding to the state's efforts, six additional teams from the National Disaster Management Authority have been deployed for relief operations. The Central government has provided Rs 11,500 crore to aid Bihar's flood mitigation measures, which include constructing more barrages and reviving dying rivers.
