Maharashtra Greenlights Salt Pan Land for Slum Rehabilitation
The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the use of 255 acres of salt pan land in Mumbai for slum rehabilitation. The implementation will be overseen by Adani group's Dharavi Slum Redevelopment Project. Additionally, decisions on port development, metro projects, and subsidies for cow shelters were made during the cabinet meeting.

In a significant move, the Maharashtra cabinet on Monday approved the utilisation of 255 acres of salt pan land in Mumbai to develop housing for those affected by slum rehabilitation projects. The task has been assigned to Adani group's Dharavi Slum Redevelopment Project.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presided over the cabinet meeting, revealing that the salt pan land would also benefit affordable housing schemes. The additional chief secretary of the state housing department will sign an agreement with the Union government for the land lease transfer.
The cabinet also sanctioned several other proposals, including appointing JSW Infrastructure as the developer for the Murbe multipurpose port and approving funds for key urban development projects like the Thane Ring Metro project and tunnel road construction in Mumbai. Furthermore, a daily subsidy for cow shelters and land allotments for sports facilities were also approved.
