Russia Launches Devastating Attack on Zaporizhzhia
Russian forces struck the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with 13 guided bombs, wounding at least 16 people, and damaging railways, infrastructure, and buildings. The strikes are part of a broader campaign targeting urban areas, with President Zelenskiy urging global unity against Russian aggression.
Russian forces launched a devastating assault on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Sunday, deploying 13 guided bombs that injured at least 16 people and caused extensive damage to railways, infrastructure, and buildings, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ivan Fedorov, governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, stated that the attacks targeted three city districts between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. local time. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy shared images of the destruction on Telegram, depicting charred vehicles and wrecked residential buildings, and emphasized the urgent need for global support to halt Russian aggression.
This attack is part of an escalating Russian campaign using guided bombs, drones, and missiles to strike Ukrainian urban centers. Zelenskiy, who recently addressed the U.N. General Assembly, continues to press for enhanced air defenses. Meanwhile, Moscow maintains it does not target civilians, despite U.N. reports of thousands of deaths since the conflict began in February 2022.
