Israeli Strikes in Gaza Kill 11 Palestinians as Conflict Intensifies

Israeli military strikes across the Gaza Strip have resulted in the deaths of at least 11 Palestinians, health officials in the enclave reported on Sunday. Israeli planes conducted bombardments in multiple northern, central, and southern areas of Gaza.

A school in Beit Lahiya sheltering displaced Palestinians was among the buildings hit, causing four fatalities and injuring several others, according to Gaza medics. The Israeli military stated it targeted Hamas militants operating from a command center situated within the compound, previously used as Um Al-Fahm School. Hamas denies the accusation of exploiting civilian facilities for military purposes.

Additional airstrikes in Gaza City, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis resulted in seven more deaths. Israeli forces continued operations in Rafah and Gaza City's Zeitoun suburb, dismantling an underground tunnel utilized by Hamas. The Israeli military remains engaged in what it describes as a 'multi-front war' aimed at dismantling Hamas and rescuing hostages.

Hostilities in Gaza have decreased as Israel escalates its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, recently killing its leader Hassan Nasrallah. As a result of the ongoing conflict, Gaza's population of 2.3 million has experienced massive displacement.

The current hostilities began after Hamas militants invaded southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 and capturing approximately 250 hostages.
