Delhi will be free of potholes after all damaged Public Works Department (PWD) roads are repaired by the end of October, Chief Minister Atishi announced on Sunday.

In a press briefing, Atishi revealed that she and all Delhi government ministers will commence field inspections of roads across the city from Monday to determine the extent of damage and necessary repairs.

A comprehensive review of a 1,400-km stretch of PWD roads in the city was conducted in a meeting chaired by her. Ministers will inspect roads in their designated areas over the next week to identify those requiring repair.

Post-inspection, decisions will be made on which roads need complete repair, partial repair, or rebuilding. Repair work is set to begin the week after inspections conclude, as part of an effort to meet AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal's desire for a 'pot-hole-free Delhi' by October’s end.

The chief minister attributed the road damage to work by power discoms and the Delhi Jal Board, after which repairs had not been executed.
