The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has handed over an injured deer to the forest department after it was attacked by wild dogs in the Abdullaganj forest range in Bahraich, an official confirmed on Thursday.

SSB personnel stationed at the Munshi Purwa-2 border outpost discovered the injured deer on Wednesday and promptly informed the authorities. The deer received immediate first aid, Deputy Commandant Dileep Kumar of the 42nd Battalion SSB reported.

The deer was later transferred to Forest Officer Pankaj Shahu. Notably, the Indian Deer is classified under Schedule-1 of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, making hunting it illegal in India.
