A person lost their life due to a cloudburst triggered by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district, leading to the closure of 26 roads, including a national highway, as per officials on Thursday.

The state witnessed heavy rains that led to the closure of 50 roads since Wednesday evening, bringing the total number of closed roads statewide to 71, including NH-707. A cloudburst in Parloni village claimed one life and caused significant damage to shops and infrastructure, reported Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta.

The deceased, identified as Rangi, was buried under debris. Disruptions included increased water levels in the Yamuna river and temporary closures of educational institutions in Poanta Sahib and Shallai areas. Met officials recorded significant rainfall, particularly in Dhaulakuan, and issued heavy rain alerts for isolated parts of the state.
