In a significant development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged officials to draft a detailed report on establishing metro rail connectivity between the Rajiv Gandhi International airport and the envisioned 'future city' on the city's outskirts.
During a meeting focused on Musi Riverfront Development and Hyderabad metro, Reddy emphasized the need to expedite metro rail expansion, particularly through Hyderabad's old city, and resolve land acquisition hurdles. The DPR (Detailed Project Report) should be ready for submission to the Centre by the Dussehra festival in October.
Reddy also highlighted the importance of aiding the poor living illegally in lakes, drains, and along the Musi river by providing them 'double bedroom houses.' Amidst efforts to protect lakes from encroachments, he suggested installing CCTV cameras linked to the police control room and identifying Full Tank Levels and Buffer Zones of water bodies within the outer ring road. Further, the establishment of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) was announced alongside plans for a 'fourth city' featuring an AI and health tourism hub.
