Tropical Storm Helene Halts Gulf of Mexico Energy Production

About 16% of crude production and 11% of natural gas output in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico were shut in response to Tropical Storm Helene. The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) made the announcement on Tuesday.

Tropical Storm Helene, currently located about 170 miles south-southeast of the western tip of Cuba, is generating maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. The Miami-based forecaster provided this update.
