Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a directive on Tuesday for officials to complete the ongoing pothole elimination campaign by October 10, just before the upcoming festivals like Sharadiya Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali.
In a departmental meeting, Adityanath underscored the need for efficient traffic flow during festivals, a time when foreign tourists also visit the state.
He emphasized that it is a collective responsibility to ensure a pleasant experience on the roads and stressed the importance of conducting high-quality pothole repairs and road maintenance. Farmer convenience should be prioritized through methods like FDR, which conserves resources and reduces costs.
Additionally, Adityanath announced that toll taxes should not be collected until highway construction is fully completed. He encouraged the mechanization of repairs over manual labor, ensuring road agencies maintain roads for five years post-completion. He also highlighted the critical need for a geo-tagging system and continuous monitoring.
