Fourteen workers were injured when a fire broke out at a jewellery manufacturing unit in Gujarat's Surat city on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
According to the authorities, two of the injured workers are in serious condition.
The fire erupted due to a gas pipeline leak used for melting gold on the building's third floor, stated Basant Pareek, in-charge chief fire officer of Surat Municipal Corporation.
The incident resulted in burn injuries for 14 workers at RV Ornaments, with two in critical condition, reported a Katargam police station official.
''A gas pipeline leak on the building's third floor caused a flash fire, leading to 14 workers sustaining burn injuries, two of whom are serious,'' explained Pareek.
Six fire tenders were dispatched to control the blaze, another fire official noted.
Fortunately, the fire was contained before it could spread further, he added.
