A Russian missile strike on Ukraine's southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia on Monday targeted critical infrastructure, injuring at least two individuals following prior attacks that wounded 21, regional authorities reported.

Regional governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed via Telegram that one of two strikes on Monday evening hit an unspecified facility while another landed in an open area. This followed a missile threat warning across southern regions from Ukraine's air force. Late on Sunday, Russia launched at least seven air strikes, injuring 21 people and damaging 13 apartment buildings, educational institutions, cars, and garages. The strikes likely involved guided aerial bombs, added Fedorov.

Ukraine's energy ministry used Telegram to report that power supplies to over 16,000 consumers were disrupted by Sunday's air strikes but were subsequently restored. While Russia denies targeting civilians, thousands have been killed and injured since Moscow commenced its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Ukrainian emergency services shared a video on Facebook showing rescue operations, debris removal, and medical aid to the wounded in front of a damaged residential building. Additionally, Russia launched two guided air missiles and four attack drones overnight, with Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepting three of the drones over the northeastern Sumy region.

The air force confirmed that Ukrainian defenses prevented the two missiles and one drone from reaching their intended targets.
