In a significant move to promote environmental sustainability, the State Bank of India (SBI), the nation's largest lender, has unveiled plans to plant 18 lakh trees over the course of this year.
The state-run bank kicked off its tree plantation campaign, dubbed 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,' in Hyderabad.
As part of its CSR activities, the SBI Ladies Club also donated essential items to Sai Seva Sangh, reinforcing the bank's dedication to supporting underprivileged communities.
SBI Chairman C S Setty highlighted the bank's environmental contributions, noting the scale of the tree plantation initiative. Setty reaffirmed SBI's vision to spearhead climate finance initiatives globally, aiming for net zero emissions by 2055.
Sreedevi Surya, President of All India SBI Ladies Club, furthered the CSR efforts by donating water dispensers, sewing machines, and other essential items to support the underprivileged at Sai Seva Sangh in Hyderabad.
