Eight individuals, including some school children, lost their lives and one person sustained injuries after a lightning strike in Joratarai village, Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh, on Monday, police reported.
The tragic incident happened around 1.30 pm under the jurisdiction of Somni police station. Upon receiving information, senior administration and police officers promptly arrived at the scene.
'Preliminary reports indicate that eight individuals, among them school children, died due to the lightning strike. Additionally, one person was injured and has been hospitalized,' Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg informed PTI via phone. Further details are still awaited as Garg and the district collector proceed to the village.
