Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena cast a spotlight on the alarming drainage and infrastructural challenges plaguing northeast Delhi. During an inspection tour, Saxena revealed that the once 200-feet Gokulpuri drain has shrunk to a mere 20-25 feet, a consequence of prolonged neglect and lack of desilting.

Photographs shared on his social media account depicted the grim reality of the area: damaged roads riddled with potholes, mountains of garbage, reverse-flowing sewers, and widespread waterlogging. The LG lamented the 'messy face' of the capital and expressed hope that those accountable would take corrective measures.

Saxena called for urgent action from the concerned departments to begin remedial work on a war footing. Earlier in the week, he also criticized the neglectful state of west Delhi, condemning the local governing body's apathy.
