The water discharge from Jayakwadi Dam into the Godavari River reached 6288 cusecs by 7pm on Monday, according to a Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar official.

The discharge rate earlier in the afternoon stood at 3144 cusecs, the official added.

"We had lifted six gates by 6 inches earlier in the day. Later, in the evening, another six gates were lifted, bringing the total number to 12. A warning has been issued to nearby villages due to the rise in the river's water level," he added.
