Authorities in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district have taken decisive action to manage the continuous inflow of water into the Jayakwadi dam. On Monday afternoon, six gates of the dam were lifted by six inches each, following consistent rainfall in the catchment areas of the Godavari river, an official noted.

With the Jayakwadi dam reaching 97.3 percent of its storage capacity, the irrigation department has made the decision to release water at a rate of 3,144 cusec into the Godavari river. The official mentioned that the discharge rate might be adjusted based on the ongoing water inflow.

Meanwhile, 500 cusec of water from the Jayakwadi dam's right canal is currently being released towards the Majalgaon dam in Beed district. The overall water stock in the Marathwada region's 11 major reservoirs has improved significantly, reaching 85.39 percent of storage capacity, compared to 43.2 percent the previous year.
