The death toll in the devastating Lucknow building collapse has now reached eight, officials reported on Sunday, after rescuers discovered three more bodies in the rubble.
Joint Commissioner of Police Amit Verma stated that the likelihood of additional survivors being trapped beneath the debris is slim.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Lok Bandhu Hospital to meet the injured victims, ensuring them of the government's support and praying for their swift recovery. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences and announced ex gratia financial support for the victims.
The ill-fated three-story building in Transport Nagar collapsed on Saturday, leading to 28 injuries and eight fatalities. Rescue teams from NDRF and SDRF conducted continuous operations to remove debris and search for trapped individuals. Construction work was ongoing at the time of the collapse, with many victims working on the ground floor at approximately 4:45 pm.
