Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday revealed plans for the 'Vande Metro' projects aimed at bolstering public transport in the state's urban areas.
Attending a review meeting in Indore, Yadav announced that the proposed Vande Metro rail would run at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour compared to the existing metro system's 80 kilometers per hour. He assured that Ujjain would be connected by metro rail before the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028.
The Chief Minister emphasized the acceleration of the metro project's construction in Indore and the creation of 'elevated' roads to resolve the city's traffic issues. Furthermore, a new metropolitan authority combining parts of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Dhar districts is being considered, with Indore and Ujjain showing best feasibility for development. Coordination between urban and rural bodies is also set to improve infrastructural services in newly added villages.
