As heavy rains continue to lash Himachal Pradesh, 40 roads have been forced to close, with the local meteorological office issuing warnings of low flash flood risk in five districts till Saturday.

Yellow alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning have been issued for 10 out of the 12 districts in the state, excluding the tribal areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti. The ongoing rainfall has impacted 32 power schemes and has caused significant damage.

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, Himachal Pradesh has recorded a rainfall deficit of 21%. Over this period, 155 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents, and the state has incurred losses amounting to Rs 1,303 crore.
