Three labourers lost their lives and several others were injured after a portion of a slab at an under-construction building fell in Mumbai's Malad area on Thursday, civic officials confirmed.

The collapse happened around 12:10 PM at Govind Nagar in Malad (East), where the 20th-floor slab of the 23-storey Navjeevan building gave way.

The high-rise, part of a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project by Right Channel Private Limited, was under construction on Haji Bapu Road. Senior officials immediately alerted the SRA authorities following the accident.
