Moderate rains have forced the closure of 70 roads in various parts of Himachal Pradesh since Wednesday evening, officials reported on Thursday.

Shimla reports the highest number of road closures, with 29 roads affected, followed by Mandi with 18, and Kangra with 10. Additionally, National Highway 5 is blocked near Negulsari in Kinnaur district. Multiple power and water supply schemes have also been disrupted, according to data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

The state has experienced intermittent moderate rain, with Dharamshala recording the highest rainfall at 74.4 mm since Wednesday evening. The rainfall deficit since June 27 stands at 22 percent, severely impacting the region. Continuous rains have caused 153 fatalities and financial losses amounting to Rs 1,271 crore as of September 2.
