Pope Francis departed from Rome on Monday, beginning an ambitious 12-day tour across four Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore. The 87-year-old leader boarded the aircraft via wheelchair assistance for the journey.

The Pope's trip, covering nearly 33,000 km and involving over 40 events, marks his longest tour to date. He aims to emphasize the critical need for global climate action, addressing the increasing threats of rising sea levels, heatwaves, and typhoons in the region.

Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni assured there are no extraordinary medical measures taken for the Pope's health beyond standard precautions. Francis's focus remains on urging international collaboration to combat climate change during this pivotal Southeast Asian visit.
