In Andhra Pradesh, seven fatalities were reported on Saturday due to rain-induced incidents, with four deaths occurring in Vijayawada as a result of landslides, according to officials.
The landslides in Mogalrajapuram, Vijayawada, were triggered by heavy rains, causing large boulders to collapse onto residences. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to each victim's family.
At Pedakakani in Guntur district, a teacher and two students died when their hatchback was overwhelmed by an overflowing stream. Despite relief efforts, further heavy rainfall is anticipated, complicating operations and leading to flood-related disruptions across various regions.
