Pope Francis Calls for Global Action on Climate Change
Pope Francis has called for enhanced efforts to protect the environment. In his video message, he emphasized that climate change requires comprehensive actions spanning ecological, social, economic, and political spheres. As he embarks on a 12-day tour to Southeast Asia, he aims to advocate for global environmental action.
Pope Francis on Friday urged people around the world to better protect the environment, ahead of a 12-day trip to Southeast Asia next week where the pontiff is expected to call for global action on climate change.
In his monthly video message, Francis emphasized, "If we took the planet's temperature, it will tell us that the Earth has a fever. And it is sick." He urged individuals and communities to change their habits to help protect nature.
The leader of the global Catholic Church, who will visit Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore, stressed that climate change actions must be multifaceted, encompassing ecological, social, economic, and political dimensions. He highlighted that the poor are the most affected by climate-related disasters, such as floods, heat waves, and droughts.
