Nearly a month after flash floods triggered by a cloudburst ravaged the Samej area of Rampur district in Himachal Pradesh on July 31, the body of a young girl was discovered in Shimla district on Friday. The total death toll from this calamity has now risen to 21.

According to officials, the severely mutilated body—which appeared to belong to a 14- or 15-year-old girl—was found beneath the Kol Dam in Sunni on Friday morning. The remains have been sent for postmortem examination, authorities confirmed.

So far, 21 bodies have been recovered in the ongoing search operation aimed at locating the 36 people still missing since the Samej tragedy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anupam Kashyap of Shimla disclosed. The search teams continue to work tirelessly under police leadership.
