Lucro Plastecycle Innovates Plastic Recycling with Groundbreaking DRS in Baramati

Lucro Plastecycle has successfully implemented a pioneering Deposit Return System (DRS) in Baramati, Maharashtra, not only for rigid but also for flexible plastics. This initiative promotes responsible waste management among residents, reducing mismanaged plastic waste, and fostering community empowerment while contributing to a circular economy.

Lucro Plastecycle, a leader in plastic recycling, has initiated a groundbreaking Deposit Return System (DRS) in Baramati, Maharashtra. This innovative scheme isn't limited to easy-to-recycle rigid plastics but extends to flexible plastics like bread and milk pouches, setting a new standard in waste management.

For the past two years, Lucro's initiative has transformed the way plastic waste is managed by buying household plastic waste from residents, reducing mismanaged plastic and raising recycling awareness. The collected waste is sorted and sent to Lucro's recycling center, where it is turned back into packaging, exemplifying a Circular Economy.

In collaboration with the local Nagar Palika, Lucro has established collection booths where residents can sell their used plastic waste. Digital payments ensure seamless transactions, and this personal interaction cultivates a sense of responsibility towards waste management. The project supports around 60,000 households, collects over 3 tons of plastic waste monthly, and has created multiple jobs, demonstrating Lucro's commitment to sustainability and community empowerment.
