Zelenskiy Urges for Long-Range Strikes After Deadly Kupyansk Airstrike
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that a Russian airstrike on the eastern town of Kupyansk resulted in fatalities and injuries. He urged Western leaders to allow Ukraine to use long-range strikes, arguing that it would help end the war swiftly and justly for Ukraine and the world.
On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed that a Russian airstrike had targeted the eastern town of Kupyansk, leading to several fatalities. Zelenskiy called on Western leaders to permit Ukraine to conduct long-range strikes using Western weapons.
In his nightly address, Zelenskiy highlighted the severity of the guided aerial bomb strike that hit Kupyansk city centre. "People were under the rubble. Unfortunately, there are fatalities," he said, without providing an exact number. Local officials and the regional prosecutor's office reported that the strike injured 14 people and damaged the city hall.
Zelenskiy emphasized the need for lifting restrictions on Ukraine's long-range airstrikes, stating that doing so would expedite a fair and just end to the war for Ukraine and the global community.
