ISRO's GNSS-Reflectometry Instrument: A New Era in Remote Sensing
ISRO's GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) instrument, a groundbreaking remote sensing technology aboard EOS-08, has commenced operations. Developed by the Space Applications Centre, it's India's first space-borne precision receiver. GNSS-R measures signals reflected off Earth's surfaces to derive crucial scientific data, significantly enhancing remote sensing capabilities.

ISRO announced on Wednesday the commencement of operations for the GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) instrument, a pioneering remote sensing technology on the EOS-08 satellite.
Developed by ISRO's Space Applications Centre, this marks India's first space-borne precision receiver. Launched on August 16 aboard the small satellite launch vehicle SSLV-D3, GNSS-R began operations on August 18.
Processed by the National Remote Sensing Centre using advanced algorithms, the instrument gathers ground-reflected GNSS signals to provide scientific data on soil moisture, surface inundation, and ocean surface conditions. Its high-resolution measurements offer valuable insights for various scientific applications.
