In the ongoing search mission in Wayanad's landslide-affected areas, five more human body parts were recovered, district authorities reported on Monday.

Out of six body parts found, five were confirmed as human following a postmortem at the taluk hospital in Sultan Bathery. The remains are currently stored in the hospital mortuary.

To date, search efforts have uncovered 231 bodies and 217 body parts in the disaster-stricken district. A total of 176 identified bodies have been returned to the deceased's relatives. Per government directives, 55 bodies and 203 body parts were interred at Puthumala's public graveyard. Authorities stated that DNA testing has identified an additional 30 bodies.

Meanwhile, Meppadi Higher Secondary School, which sheltered hundreds of survivors post-landslide on July 30, will reopen on Tuesday, officials announced.
