Close on the heels of a vapour cloud explosion at a pharmaceutical unit in Anakapalli district, another industrial accident occurred in a factory on Friday, injuring four workers seriously.

Anakapalli Superintendent of Police M Deepika Patil reported that a fire broke out around 1 am at Synergene Active Ingredients Pvt Ltd in Parawada, within the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JN Pharma City).

The incident was a result of a chemical mishap where vapours ignited by static electricity led to a flash fire. All four injured workers, hailing from Jharkhand, were in the mixing room at the time. No deaths were reported, and the situation is now under control.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been briefed on the incident and directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha was instructed to visit the victims. Syngene Active Ingredients, headquartered in Hyderabad, employs around 600 people and has two units in JN Pharma City.
