A grim scenario unfolded in the wake of a catastrophic vapor cloud explosion at Escientia Advanced Sciences Pvt Ltd in Anakapalli's SEZ. The blast, which occurred at 2.20 pm on Wednesday, led to the tragic death of 17 people and left many others severely injured.

Thick smoke engulfed the area, forcing ambulances with sirens blaring to make urgent trips through the SEZ's main gate, rescuing horrified and injured workers. Panic-stricken relatives, wearing masks and holding kerchiefs over their faces to avoid inhaling fumes, awaited news anxiously.

The injured were transported to nearby hospitals where they awaited medical attention. Anakapalli District Collector Vijaya Krishnan confirmed that seven of the injured had been discharged. Authorities have registered a case against the company's management, citing negligence and lack of safety precautions.
