Heavy Rain Causes Road Closures and Power Disruptions in Himachal Pradesh

Light rainfall in various parts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday led to the closure of 49 roads, officials confirmed.
State emergency operation centre reports show that rain-related incidents have claimed 139 lives and resulted in Rs 1,200 crore in damages since the monsoon season began on June 27. Among the districts, Mandi has the highest number of road closures at 16, followed by Shimla with 13, Kullu and Kangra with eight each, Kinnaur with two, and Una and Sirmaur with one each.
Nine power and five water supply schemes have also been disrupted. The local meteorological office issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning from Sunday onwards. Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the lowest temperature at 9.8 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest with 36.4 degrees Celsius.
