Tragedy at Anakapalli Pharma Unit: Fire Leaves 13 Dead, 33 Injured

A tragic fire accident at a pharmaceutical unit in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, resulted in the death of 13 individuals and injuries to 33 others on Wednesday. The incident could have been more severe, but fewer workers were present due to the lunch break.

The devastating blaze erupted at 2:15 pm at Escientia Advanced Science Pvt Ltd, located in the SEZ at Atchutapuram. Injured workers, many with torn clothes and bleeding wounds, were rushed to hospitals. The company began operations in April 2019 with a Rs 200 crore investment.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to utilize air ambulance services to transport the injured, if necessary, and announced a high-level inquiry into the incident. Naidu will visit the site to meet the families of the deceased and the injured.
