In a tragic incident, twenty cattle were killed by a lightning strike in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, an official confirmed on Wednesday.
The event unfolded in Kerakachhar village on Tuesday when two cowherds took the animals to a nearby forest for grazing, only to be caught in a sudden thunderstorm. The cowherds, who were standing at a distance, escaped unhurt.
Among the deceased cattle were nine cows, seven bulls, and four calves. Police and revenue department officials visited the village on Wednesday morning, and autopsies were performed on the deceased animals, the official added.
