Torrential rain wreaked havoc in parts of Connecticut, causing extensive flooding that washed out roads, trapped people in cars and restaurants, and tragically swept two individuals into a river. Authorities confirmed at least one death due to the storm, which also extended its impact to New Jersey and Long Island, New York.
In some areas of western Connecticut, up to 10 inches of rain fell, turning roads into rushing torrents and catching drivers off guard. The body of a missing woman was found in Oxford, while rescue teams continued to search for another woman swept away during rescue efforts.
Governor Ned Lamont reported over 100 individuals were evacuated by search and rescue teams. Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad services were disrupted due to the flooding, further complicating transportation across the region.
