Thame, a renowned Sherpa village, suffered extensive flooding following a probable glacial lake outburst on Friday, devastating over half of its homes. No human casualties have been reported as yet.
A Nepal Army team rescued six individuals, primarily children and elderly, even as around 15 huts were consumed by the flood in Solukhumbu's Thame area.
Visuals of the destruction flooded social media, showing buildings engulfed in muck and debris. Authorities are conducting search, rescue, and disaster management operations with a second rescue team dispatched for further support.
